Goin' Bald for Bucks News
Arizona State Goes Bald!
On October 28, Goin' Bald for Bucks reached the southwest corner of the country as nearly 100 students at Arizona State University went bald or cut their hair for cancer cures! The event raised $2,500 for cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park. Check out coverage of the event from ABC News. Go ASU!
Goin' Bald for Bucks Leadership Forum
30 students, teachers and advisors from six different schools, ranging from elementary level to college, attended the first annual Goin' Bald for Bucks Leadership Forum on September 30. The forum, held on Roswell Park's campus, was the opportunity for schools who have hosted or would like to host a Goin' Bald event to share information, advice and strategy on making these events a success! The program featured keynote speaker Anthony George, a teacher at Lakeshore High School and founder of Goin' Bald for Bucks, and attendees were also treated to a tour of Roswell Park's facilities, an opportunity for them to better understand the impact of their support. Pictured: George, at right of podium, and Senior Team Cure Coordinator Misha Russo share advice with the crowd.
On Saturday, May 9, the women of the Queen City Roller Girls—Buffalo’s roller derby league extraordinaire—raised over $5,000 for Roswell Park at their final match of the season. Five players went Bald for Bucks to the cheers of a near sold-out crowd at Rainbow Rink in North Tonawanda. The head shaving followed a win by the Devil Dollies against the Nickel City Knockouts. Our thanks go out to the league members for their hard-hitting effort to help find cures and save lives.
