Choosing the Right Route Only riders with experience riding long distances and with bikes in top shape should ride the 62.5 mile route. All routes will close at 2 pm. Riders still on the road at that time will be advanced by vehicle support to Baird Point. Check out all eight routes on this composite map to see where each route goes. A send-off from patients and staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute will be followed by a police escorted tour of the best of Buffalo. The 62.5-Mile Alabama Ride Check-in: 6 am

Time Commitment: 4.5-6 hours
Audience: Active and hard-core riders The 62.5-Mile Route is for experienced, serious bicyclists. It's over mostly flat, well-maintained roads, and includes a total of six en-route rest stops along the way, most of them at approximately 10-mile intervals. All rest stops are stocked with various energy foods, plenty of water and ice, and are manned by VERY energetic, enthusiastic volunteers. They'll be sure to thank you for your participation in The Ride for Roswell, so please thank them for their help as well. The 62.5-Mile Route begins at Baird Point on the UB Amherst Campus, and travels east and north through the towns of Amherst, Clarence, Newstead, Alabama, Royalton, Shelby, and back. The scenery in several areas is just gorgeous. You're likely to see a lot of wildlife as you cycle through the Iroquois National Wildlfe Refuge - Alabama Swamps area. Look for the bald eagles! All high-traffic intersections are manned by either local Fire Police, or by Town, County, or State Police. In addition, many intersections you'll cross are manned by "Route Guide" volunteers. Their job is to cheer you on, and to give directions to participating bicyclists only (they do NOT control vehicular traffic). In the event of threatening weather, they will direct you to the nearest fire hall shelter. Please comply with all instructions given by those manning the intersections for your safety. Audience: Active riders The 44-Mile Route is a great route to take if you are a moderate to serious bike rider. Obviously, it's not as long as the 62.5-Mile Route, but it's still a great workout. The 44-Mile Route takes its riders through some of the more scenic and enjoyable bike routes in Western New York. The Ride begins at Baird Point at 7 am and moves from the campus up Audubon then east along Dodge, following the 62.5-mile route up through Clarence. The first rest stop is on Clarence Center Road about 10 miles into the ride. After heading east through Clarence, the 44-Mile Route begins its turnaround by entering the historic village of Akron passing through the beautiful Akron Falls Park. After completing the turnaround and heading back west, you will see a water station 5 miles from turn. The next rest stop is at approximately 5 miles from water station, at the corner of Goodrich and Wolcott. The final rest stop is at St. Mary's Church, at mile 27. From that point, all that is left is to head back along Dodge and down Audubon to Baird Point and the finish line. Of the 30 intersections that makeup up the 44-Mile Route on the Ride for Roswell, 25 of them are being run by Fire Police or law enforcement staff to ensure the safety of all riders on that day. The remaining 8 are staffed by volunteers. Don't forget to thank all of the people along the way that made this Ride possible. Without them we would not have an enjoyable and safe Ride. Audience: Regular to active riders Because so many riders told us how much they liked the 33-Mile ride's distance and open country roads, we have decided to bring back the traditional "Clarence 33-Mile" route for this year's Ride. That means that along with "The River 30," you now have a choice of two great routes in the 30-mile range! The Clarence 33-Mile travels the same open roads as the 44-Mile and 62.5-Mile routes for its first 15.6 miles, and then reconnects with both a few miles further along. Head out through historic Clarence Center, then return through tree-covered parkland to discover three of the nicest biking roads in Erie County. The 30-Mile Niagara Ride Check-in: 7 am

Audience: Regular to active riders The 30-mile River Ride will take the same path as the 20-mile route from the bike paths along Ellicott Creek, Niawanda and Isle View Park along the Niagara River and then into the city of Buffalo, then return via the Two Mile Creek bike path through the city and town of Tonawanda. Audience: Casual to regular riders The 20-Mile Route is for bicyclists who will enjoy a fun ride along a number of of the most scenic waterside bike paths in Western New York. It's over flat, well-maintained roads and bike paths and includes two rest stops along the way. The first rest stop in Ellicott Creek park is 4 miles from Baird Point. The second stop at Niawanda Park is along the river. The final rest stop on the return trip to Baird Point is also in Ellicott Creek Park. All rest stops are stocked with various energy foods, plenty of water and ice, and are manned by VERY energetic and enthusiastic volunteers. Audience: Casual rider; families The 8-Mile Route is a great way to enjoy a leisurely ride. All ages can ride this popular route. This Ride follows the Amherst Bike Path all the way to Niagara Falls Boulevard. There is a rest stop half-way down the bike path, if you need a break. Refreshments and a bike mechanic are available at the rest stop and fun activities for the kids. This stop is your last chance for water until the end of the route. The bike path will end at Niagara Falls Boulevard, where you will merge with the 20-Mile and 30-Mile routes on North Ellicott. Your ride home will take you down Sweethome to Skinnerville and Frontier, ending back at Baird Point. All major intersections are manned by local Volunteer Fire Police . In addition, many intersections are manned by "Route Guide" volunteers. Their job is to cheer you on, and to give directions to participating bicyclists only (they do NOT control vehicular traffic). Audience: Casual rider; families with trailers and training wheels The Family Fun Ride is our newest route for a great family adventure! Hook up those trailers! Tighten those training wheels! Put on those helmets and buckle your baby-seat belts for the ultimate family ride experience. We encourage all family members, no matter how young or not-so-young, to join us on this new route. Featuring a special rest stop, various team mascots and other exciting attractions, it will travel almost entirely along the eastern portion of the Amherst Bike Path known as the Ellicott Creek Trailway. The route is exciting because it never actually crosses a road. Once families have completed the Family Fun Ride, we encourage them to join us at Baird Point.
