We might be a little later to the party this year, but make no mistake - The Team and I are ready to go out there and do our part to support RPCI and continue trying to fulfill My Word to my Fujin, "We will beat this for someone else... My Word." To that end, this June, I will be joining over SIX THOUSAND people in The Ride For Roswell - raising funds for research and patient care at The Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
I ride in honour of my Fujin, my soulmate, my wife and closest friend - Joan Irwin-Cerone; She was diagnosed with AngioSarcoma just weeks after our daughter was born - something that even RPCI told us was "One In-a-Million" for THEM to see. She lost her battle less than three years later after amassing over three volumes of patient charts. She told me that even if she lost her fight, that if they learn something from all this, it will have been worth it.
This year as a special incentive: if I raise over $3,000, or if Team End Of Cycle For Sarcoma raises over $5,000.... I will shave my head bald for The Ride! (And yes, there WILL be pictures in the R4R Flickr site!)
